A woman in her 50s has died following a violent assault at a Mississauga plaza on Dundas Street East. Peel Regional Police have arrested a man in his 50s and say the attack appears to be isolated.

A woman in her 50s has died following a violent assault at a busy plaza in Mississauga on Friday night, Peel Regional Police confirmed. Officers were called to the commercial area near 1310 Dundas Street East just before 8 p.m., where they found the victim suffering from severe traumatic injuries.  


Despite being rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment, the woman was later pronounced dead, leaving the community shaken and questions unanswered.  


Suspect Arrested After Brief Foot Pursuit


Police say shortly after the assault, a man in his 50s was taken into custody following a brief foot chase involving officers and bystanders. Authorities believe the victim and the suspect were known to each other, indicating the incident was not random, though the exact motive remains unclear.  


Investigators have recovered a weapon from the scene and are continuing to piece together what led to the violent altercation.
